Consultation alternative Christmas lighting scheme
Welcome to this consultation on a proposed alternative Christmas Lighting Scheme for Queensferry High Street. Join us in a walk along the High Street during our celebration of Christmas in Queensferry.
The Christmas in Queensferry Committee is representative of over forty Queensferry groups who attended the AGM and elected this committee with a prime objective of looking at alternative lighting schemes to deliver the following:
- A sustainable solution
- Reducing cost year on year
- Lighting that compliments the heritage and conservation status of the High Street
This proposal is:
- An indicative scheme
- Flexible as it can be changed and adapted to suit spend and desires
- Is not set in tablets of stone
- Has the support of City of Edinburgh Council Officials

What does it cost:
- A lighting scheme such as this will cost around £20k plus infrastructure costs.
- By grants from Awards from All and Almond Neighbourhood Partnership
- By local fundraising
- By sponsorship from groups and possibly local traders

The lighting scheme is flexible and can be developed over time:
- In phases
- By location
- Cost of lighting Council Buildings is approximately £1000
- A banner costs £2000
- To light Black Castle costs £750
- A lampost costs £65
